A big welcome to new and returning members!

We are very excited to welcome everyone back to the new season at Davisville.  All of our members will be getting an e-mail in the coming days with regular updates now until the season opens on April 14.  Make sure that you save that date for fun during the day, and more fun in the evening.

Team Tryouts

Want to try out for one of Davisville's league teams?  We have Intercounty Mixed Majors, Mixed A and Mixed B teams and a Daytime Ladies C1 team.  Full information on the teams can be found on our "Compete / League Teams" menu above.

Opening Day: April 14, 2018

Yes, we are opening earlier this year by a week.  (Come on weather, don't disappoint us).  And, the club will be open in October on weekends to extend the season.  With resurfacing coming this summer, we need to make the season as long as we can.

Welcome to our new head pro!

We are very excited to welcome Brian Ahlberg as our new head pro!

Brian brings a wealth of great experience to his new position. He comes to us most recently from The Supreme Court, where during the winter season he works as head tennis pro with our very own former pro, Alastair Millar! Before that, he was a private high performance coach at the North London Optimist Tennis Centre in London, Ont.; head tennis pro at Winston Churchill Park Tennis Club and tennis pro at The Boulevard Club, both in Toronto.
Brian also has top instructional credentials and lots of experience as a competitive player.  But let's hear from Brian himself. Here's a note he has written to our members:

"I would like to welcome all members to the club for the 2018 season! I am excited to be joining as the new head tennis professional. Since this is my first season at the club, I thought I would take the opportunity to tell you a little bit about myself.

"I began playing tennis at a very young age, and fell in love with the sport very quickly. My enthusiasm and love of tennis continued on into my teen years. As a top-ranked national-level junior player, I had the privilege of training at a variety of tennis facilities across North America and  Europe. This was an invaluable experience for me as a young man, and I believe that the lessons I learned at a young age continue to assist me as a tennis coach today.

"I have coached players of all ages and levels, ranging from beginner to national champions and NCAA players. I am Tennis Canada Coach 3 certified and I develop my players in accordance with Tennis Canada coaching standards. I also have extensive experience as a competitive player. I am a three-time Canadian national senior champion who has been ranked as high as fourth in the world ITF rankings for the men’s over-35 category and represented Team Canada at the Senior ITF competition in Florida, Turkey and South Africa.

"I love to teach and inspire tennis players of all levels and ages. I will be offering a variety of instructional adult and junior programs suitable for all levels of play. I look forward to a fun and exciting 2018 season! See you on the courts!"

Winter Tennis

Yes, Davisville does play tennis in the winter!  We just do it at other facilities and on other courts.  We have court time booked at both Mayfair West and The Supreme Court.  If you are a member, you will get an email from us inviting you to attend.  Dates and times can be found in the IMPORTANT DATES area to the right.

Sign up quickly when you get that email ... everyone else does!

Davisville Cup 2017: A smashing success!

Davisville, a round of applause: On another fantastic and fun-filled Davisville Cup day, we raised more than $12,000 for Philpott Children's Fund, helping to provide free tennis camps to disadvantaged kids in our city.

There were 54 Davisville members (60 including volunteers) participating in our annual charity tournament, dressed as cheerleaders and goths, preppies and jocks, rockers and geeks, at our high school reunion-themed event. Our top fundraisers were Jeff Holz, Lucie Barbera and Terry Brodie.

And the winning team was the Goths: Tara Kitts, Ryan Lapschies, Mason Brooks, Danielle Butula, Lucie Barbera, Alec Sampaneau, Chris Albertyn, Yuet Wong and Martin Chang-Kue!

There are many people to thank for helping to create such a great event: our co-chairs, Heather Brooks and Jeff Holz, along with our planning committee and team captains, as well as our DJ, Theri, MC, Alastair Millar, participants, sponsors, and all of those who pledged their support.
