Getting Rated - New Members Ratings

What to expect at your free New Member Rating Session

As a new member at Davisville Tennis Club, you are encouraged to attend a new member rating as early in the season as you can!

Your New Member Rating will take place with up to six players on a court. Each New Member Rating can last up to 30 minutes, as the Head Tennis Professional leads players through a series of low impact assessments so he / she can judge you’re general technical abilities.  Alastair will assign you a NTRP rating anywhere from 2.0 (a beginner) to 7.0 (professional tour player).

Members do not find out the results of their ratings during a New Member Rating session.  Each players “Member Tag” (located in the Green Tag Board) is updated by the Court Steward staff shortly after your rating session.  Our Director of Player Development will then update you’re online information to accurately reflect you’re New Member Rating.

Every member of Davisville Tennis Club must be rated by the end of a season, in order to be eligible to rejoin Davisville the following year.

Note: This rule was passed at the 2013 Davisville Tennis Club, Annual General Meeting.

Member Re-Ratings

What to expect at Member Re Rating Session

As a rated member at Davisville Tennis Club, you can attend up to two Re Rating sessions per season at a cost of $10.00 each.

A Re-Rating is a much more extensive session then you likely experienced during your New Member Rating.  In the New Member Rating, you were assessed based only on your Technical Ability.  In a Re-Rating, you are assessed on your Technical, Tactical, Physical and Psychological Abilities.  A Re-Rating is limited to a maximum of four players per session and can last up to one hour.  The Head Tennis Professional leads players through a series of drills to challenge your abilities for whichever level you are attempting to achieve.  48 hours after the Re-Rating Session, the Head Tennis Professional will provide members with an individualized breakdown of each player’s session results (typically by email).

If a player's NTRP rating changes as a result of the session, that player's “Member Tag” (located in the Green Tag Board) will be updated by the Court Steward staff shortly after receiving confirmation from the Head Tennis Professional.  Our Director of Player Development who is copied on all Re-Rating emails, would then update the member's online information.

Member Re-Ratings are not mandatory.  If a member chooses to attempt a Re-Rating, they should become familiar with the NTRP rating criteria provided on this website.

Next re-rating session is scheduled for:

May 27 between 2:00pm - 4:00pm

NOTE: Players must be available for the full time shown above.  Times by 1/2 hour will be assigned 48 hours before the rating.

Please email Alastair at headpro@davisvilletennisclub.com to book your time!
